A thank you to my senior year... so far
Just over a week ago Cal Poly seniors were informed that our graduation was cancelled, Spring Quarter would be all virtual, and basically all social events would be cancelled. It was tough news to receive and the best/only way I really knew how to distract myself was to hide away in my room and start editing a video matched with some sad indie music to let out my sad boi emotions. For the past 18 or so years our identities have stemmed from the fact that we're students, with the majority of our time spent in classrooms, preparing for exams, and setting goals to achieve the next level of academic recognition. College was always in my plans but once I started at Cal Poly I realized it wasn't going to be as simple as I had assumed. After almost dropping out twice during my sophomore and junior year, all I wanted was to cross the finish line at graduation and get the satisfaction of saying I "did it". Finding out that that would never happen definitely wasn't easy and I've been going through highs and lows the past week trying to accept it. But, editing this video helped remind me of the numerous blessings college has brought me and I wanted to take the time to document the past ten weeks and say thank you to each person that made it what it was. Editing this definitely gave me some perspective and helped me remember that after all the craziness settles, I'm going to be left with some pretty unforgettable experiences and incomparable people to lean on and look back on. So, to everyone featured in this video, thank you and just know that I'm sending you a virtual hug and sappy kt lecture about how much I luh ya. See ya'll soon.
